Malam Ngobrol

Malam ngobrol (chat nights) are informal social gatherings held at cafes, restaurants, parks, gardens or community venues and are open to members and guests. The idea is to practise our Bahasa Indonesia in a friendly, informal setting, either with each other or with Indonesian guests who often attend. Members who don't speak Indonesian are welcome to attend and could find themselves helping someone with their Bahasa Inggris.

Malam ngobrol are usually on Friday evenings but there are also daytime events on the weekends (siang ngobrol), including one in the Botanic Gardens in March each year and a joint event with BIAK (Bendigo Indonesia Australia Klub) at a member's beautiful property in Taradale, in October. We aim to have four or five a year.

See the What's On page or your issue of AIAV News for details about forthcoming malam dan siang ngobrol.

March 2019 malam ngobrol at Pondok Rempah restaurant in Elizabeth Street with Pak Prima and Pak Alfons from the Consulate General. Between ordering our food and getting to know each other there were plenty of opportunities to mengobrol dalam Bahasa Indonesia dan menikmati makanan Nusantara (yang nggak terlalu pedas!)
