President Soekarno (1945-1967) was known as a great orator, nationalist, and father of revolution. He was born on June 6, 1901, and died on June 21, 1970. He is a very important part of the history of the struggle to eradicate colonialism through his speeches which have the power to empower and inspire. This year, in order to celebrate the anniversary of the Birth of Pancasila, a non-profit organization in Australia consisting of Australians and Indonesian diaspora members, the Australian Indonesian Association of Victoria (AIAV), will present an exhibition of Soekarno photographs. The exhibition will be held at the University of Melbourne for two weeks: 1-14 June 2023, every weekday from 10AM - 5PM Melbourne time. We hope that the exhibition of photographs of the 1st President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, will not only revive memories of the history of the struggle for the archipelago in the past, but more than that, encourage the spirit of struggle to achieve the ideals of revolution, namely social justice for all Indonesian people without discriminating between regions, geographical, ethnic, religious, racial or other minority-group.
